The Experience

Before You Go

Charge twice

Bring the bike’s charger and, if possible, a small external battery—steep climbs and high assist drain range quickly.

Spare tube and tools

A spare tube, pump or CO2 and a multi-tool are included, but carry your own for faster roadside repairs on remote sections.

Start early

Temperatures rise and trails get busier—begin rides in the morning for cooler conditions and better trail access.

Respect trail etiquette

Yield to uphill riders and hikers, follow signage, and avoid muddy sections to protect trail surfaces.

Local Knowledge

Hidden Gems

  • Short climb to the Daisy Hill Koala Centre lookout for unexpected city views
  • Quiet sections of Brisbane Valley Rail Trail east of Fernvale for long, rolling climbs away from singletrack traffic

Wildlife

  • Koalas (in Daisy Hill reserve)
  • Rainbow lorikeets and kookaburras in eucalypt stands

Conservation Note

Ride only on designated tracks to reduce erosion; local volunteer groups maintain trails and welcome support—pack out all waste and avoid riding wet trails.

The trails sit on land shaped by creeks and early timber and rail industries; the rail trail follows a former rail corridor that opened rural access to Brisbane in the 19th century.

What to Bring

Helmet (certified)Essential

Protective helmet is mandatory and provided, but many riders prefer their own for fit and comfort.

Hydration packEssential

Flat repair kitEssential

Spare tube, tire levers and pump or CO2 to fix common punctures quickly.

Light jacket or wind shell

Early mornings and ridge-top sections can be cool and windy, so pack a lightweight layer.
