Bali Quad Bike and Besakih Temple Tour — ATV Adventure and Besakih Temple Visit

Spend a day riding 250cc ATVs through rice terraces, jungle tunnels and rivers, then transition to cultural stops including Besakih Temple and Kerta Gosa. This full-day combination pairs adrenaline with heritage and panoramic eastern Bali views.

The Experience

Before You Go

Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes

ATV tracks can be muddy and rocky—trail boots or heavy trainers protect feet and provide grip.

Bring a change of clothes

You’ll likely be dusty or muddy after the ride; a dry shirt and towel make the afternoon temple visits more comfortable.

Respect temple dress codes

Besakih and Kerta Gosa require modest clothing; a sarong/sash is often provided but bring a lightweight wrap just in case.

Hydrate and pace yourself

This is a long day—carry water and take breaks after the ATV section before starting temple walks at altitude.

Local Knowledge

Hidden Gems

  • Sidemen Valley viewpoints for quieter rice-terrace panoramas
  • Tirta Gangga water garden—ornate pools and carved stone fountains east of Besakih

Wildlife

  • Long-tailed macaque (near temple edges)
  • Cattle egrets and kingfishers around rice paddies

Conservation Note

Stay on designated tracks to limit erosion of terraces; follow local guidance on offerings and avoid leaving litter—sustainable tourism helps maintain fragile paddy ecosystems.

Besakih has functioned as Bali’s principal temple complex for over a millennium and sits on volcanic soils shaped by Mount Agung’s eruptions; Kerta Gosa dates to the late 17th century as a royal court building.

What to Bring

Lightweight sarong or cover-upEssential

Needed for temple entry and to respect local customs at Besakih and Kerta Gosa.

Sunscreen and hatEssential

Low cloud or sun exposure on terraces and open tracks makes UV protection important.
