The Experience

Before You Go

Bring a light jacket

Wind can be strong near the reservoir and temperatures drop on the climb—layer up for the return descent.

Closed-toe shoes only

The operator requires closed shoes for stability and safe pedaling—sandals are not allowed.

Hydrate before and during the ride

Bottled water is provided, but drink early and often; sun and wind increase fluid loss on the climb.

Know basic e-bike handling

Electric assistance changes balance and braking—be comfortable riding and controlling gear before joining.

Local Knowledge

Hidden Gems

  • The La Cuevita cave bar — a short, atmospheric stop with local fruit drinks
  • The old Ayagaures brick bridge viewpoint overlooking the reservoir and duck populations

Wildlife

  • Mallard and other waterfowl at the Ayagaures reservoir
  • Lizards and endemic insects among the valley cacti

Conservation Note

The Maspalomas dunes are a protected reserve; stick to marked paths, avoid trampling vegetation, and follow guide instructions to limit erosion and disturbance.

The cave stop sits in a site used by pre-Hispanic islanders (often referred to as Guanche heritage), and the route crosses landscapes shaped by volcanic activity and coastal sands.
