The Experience

Before You Go

Bring your driver’s licence

All drivers must present a valid licence before riding; no licence means you cannot drive.

Closed-toe shoes only

Sturdy sneakers or hiking shoes protect feet from engine heat, mud, and rocks on uneven tracks.

Prepare for dust and mud

Pack a change of clothes and a small towel—mud puddles are seasonal but common after rain.

Sun and wind protection

Sunscreen and sunglasses are important even under cloud cover; a lightweight wind layer helps on exposed plateaus.

Local Knowledge

Hidden Gems

  • Stop briefly at small roadside stalls selling fresh coconut water near the base of the hills
  • Ask your guide to point out a quieter beach access used by locals for sunset walks

Wildlife

  • Pacific fruit bats (flying foxes) seen at dusk
  • Tropical bird species such as the Fiji bush warbler

Conservation Note

Stick to designated tracks and follow guides to minimize erosion and disturbance to farms; avoid leaving litter and be mindful of private property and local communities.

Nadi’s route through sugarcane fields reflects the island’s colonial-era plantation history; nearby Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple marks the strong Indo-Fijian cultural presence in the town.
